Arizona · seasonal recreational transport
Snowbird Toy Transport to Phoenix
RV resort capital of the Southwest, plus heavy UTV and cart volume.
Overview
What this looks like in Phoenix
The Phoenix metro takes in more seasonal RVs than almost anywhere in the country, and the equipment mix looks different from Florida. There are fewer boats and far more side-by-sides, because the recreation here is desert riding rather than water.
We arrange transportation with qualified motor carriers and plan the delivery around the resort or storage facility receiving the unit.
RV resorts run on a season and a schedule
Mesa, Apache Junction, Surprise and the surrounding communities host large 55-plus RV resorts with defined seasons, office check-in requirements and rules about which trucks can use interior roads. Get the park's policy before you set a delivery date.
Desert recreation drives the equipment mix
Side-by-sides, ATVs and dirt bikes arrive here in volume, often inside toy haulers. That combination — a loaded toy hauler — is the single most commonly under-reported weight we see on westbound shipments.
Heat is a transport factor
Early-fall and late-spring runs into the desert see extreme surface temperatures. Aged tires on a trailer that was fine in Minnesota can fail on hot Arizona pavement, which is another reason DOT date codes matter more than tread depth.
Equipment
What actually moves into this market
RVs, fifth wheels and park models
The dominant arrival. Confirm the resort's truck access rules and your site's dimensions.
Toy haulers with machines inside
Very common. Report the machines, their weights and their fuel levels honestly at quote time.
Side-by-sides and ATVs
Width and roll-cage height are the numbers that decide the equipment and the price.
Golf carts
Widely used in the 55-plus communities. Easy deliveries in most cases.
Motorcycles
Year-round riding weather makes this a strong winter destination for bikes.
Corridors
Routes we run on this lane
| Route | What to know |
|---|---|
| Minneapolis → Phoenix | About 1,700 miles. Strong Upper Midwest RV corridor with real October competition. |
| Chicago → Phoenix | Roughly 1,750 miles. Good coverage, but book early in season. |
| Milwaukee → Phoenix / Mesa | Heavy Wisconsin RV and park-model traffic. |
| Detroit → Phoenix | Around 2,000 miles with a thinner carrier pool than the Florida lanes. |
| Cleveland → Phoenix | Long haul; six weeks of lead time is realistic in peak season. |
Planning
Seasonal timing and local access
Timing
- Arrivals run October through December, with resort season check-in dates driving the calendar.
- Northbound departures start earlier here than in Florida — March and April are the peak.
- Westbound lanes are thinner than southeastern lanes. Add lead time rather than assuming equivalent capacity.
- Confirm your resort site before booking. A unit with no site is a unit sitting on a truck.
Delivery considerations
- Many RV resorts restrict tractor-trailers to a staging area and position units with their own equipment.
- Check-in at the park office is often required before a unit can be placed.
- Storage facilities have length limits and seasonal capacity. Reserve early.
- Desert heat is hard on tires. Inspect date codes before a spring northbound trip, not just the fall southbound one.

Questions
Phoenix transport FAQs
Can my fifth wheel be delivered directly to my resort site?
It depends on the park. Many restrict large trucks and place units themselves. Ask the office and pass their answer to us before we dispatch.
Can my side-by-side ride inside my toy hauler?
Usually, if the loaded weight stays inside the trailer's GVWR and the machine is strapped to the floor anchors. Fuel should be low, and batteries disconnected.
Why does a Phoenix move cost more than a Florida move of similar distance?
Carrier density. There are simply fewer trucks running the westbound seasonal lanes than the I-75 and I-95 corridors, and price follows availability.
When do people head back north from Phoenix?
Generally March and April, earlier than the Florida markets. Book spring transport accordingly.

Not sure what kind of hauler you need?
Don't worry. You don't have to know whether you need a power-only truck, flatbed, enclosed trailer, RV driver or specialized carrier. Just tell us what you're moving, its approximate size, where it's going and when you need it moved. We'll review the shipment and determine what type of transportation is appropriate.
Please note: Anything that rolls on its own wheels must be roadworthy before pickup. The customer is responsible for repairs — tires, bearings, brakes, lights — and for towing and repair costs if the unit becomes disabled in transit.
