Region note

Midwest-to-Florida lanes fill fast in October. Build weather buffer into late-fall pickups.

Peak-season options

  • Rush Dispatch: pickup within 48 hours of booking where available — $500 fee.
  • Returning client priority: past customers get first access to our preferred carrier network.
  • Flexible pickup window: giving a 3–5 day window instead of one date usually saves money and improves scheduling.

Why early

Book early or pay for the privilege of waiting

Snowbird season is not a secret. Every broker and carrier in the industry knows the same calendar. The difference is whether you planned ahead.

  • October–December southbound and March–May northbound are the tightest capacity windows of the year
  • Carriers fill their Florida and Arizona lanes weeks in advance; last-minute trucks charge a premium
  • A flexible 3–5 day pickup window almost always costs less than a single hard date
  • Weather in the north can delay October pickups; building in buffer protects your flight or closing date
  • Returning clients get priority dispatch with our preferred carrier network

Seasons

Peak windows and rush options

Southbound peak

October through December. Snowbirds leaving the Northeast, Midwest and Great Lakes all want the same three-week windows. Book three to six weeks ahead.

Northbound peak

March through May. Florida and Arizona seasonal leases end at roughly the same time, creating a mirror rush back north. Book three to six weeks ahead.

Rush Dispatch

Pickup within 48 hours of booking where available — $500 fee. This is an option, not a guarantee, and it depends on a truck being open on your exact lane.

Corridors

The busiest snowbird lanes

New York / New JerseyFlorida

The heaviest snowbird corridor in the country. October and November pickups book fastest.

Chicago / MidwestFlorida / Arizona

Two major destination states, both with tight fall capacity.

Detroit / Great LakesFlorida / Texas

Freshwater boat and RV moves add to car volume in October.

Boston / New EnglandFlorida

Late-fall weather can push pickups into November; book before haul-out.

Minneapolis / Twin CitiesArizona / Florida

Long lanes with fewer trucks per day — flexibility matters most here.

Denver / Mountain WestArizona / Texas

Fewer total trucks but also less volume than the Northeast corridor.

FAQ

Snowbird transport questions

How far in advance should snowbirds book car transport?
Three to six weeks ahead for October–December arrivals and March–May departures. Outside those peak windows, two to four weeks is usually enough.
What if I do not know my exact date yet?
Give us a 3–5 day window instead of one date. That flexibility is the single biggest factor in getting a better rate and a reliable pickup.
Does Enterprise Auto Transport guarantee pickup dates?
No auto transport broker can guarantee a specific pickup date because carriers are independent owner-operators with changing schedules. We quote realistic windows and offer Rush Dispatch where available.
Can I ship my RV, boat or golf cart with my car?
Often yes, as coordinated shipments. See our snowbird recreational and toy transport section for boats, RVs, golf carts and motorcycles.
Do returning clients really get priority?
Yes. Past customers are flagged in our system and get first offer on capacity in our preferred carrier network during peak season.

Ready to lock in your snowbird dates?

Open and enclosed semi-truck carriers, door-to-door delivery and a coordinator who answers the phone.
