Enterprise Auto Transport arranges vehicle transportation between Oak Brook, Illinois and Southwest Florida - Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Marco Island and Sanibel Island - southbound for the season and northbound again in the spring.
Car shipping between Oak Brook, Illinois and Southwest Florida
Oak Brook is unusual on this corridor for a simple reason: three expressways meet at its edge. I-88 comes in from the west, I-294 runs north–south along the village's eastern side and I-290 arrives from the city, and the Illinois Tollway describes the junction where they come together as one of the most important interchanges on its system, carrying more than 300,000 vehicles a day. For a driver hauling a loaded seventy-foot transporter 1,340 miles to the Gulf Coast, that changes the shape of the job. Most Chicagoland pickups begin with a slow crawl out to a ramp through parked-up side streets; an Oak Brook pickup usually begins with a few minutes of wide arterial and then the interstate.
The complication here is not getting the truck to the village. It is the last hundred feet. Oak Brook is a large-lot community of long private drives, curving streets and landscaped entrances, and several of its residential enclaves sit behind staffed gates. That is where an Oak Brook pickup is actually decided, and it is what most of this page is about.
We are an owner-operated, federally licensed and bonded broker, BBB Accredited with an A+ rating, serving customers since February 2012. We arrange transportation with qualified motor carriers, and our home base is in Naples, at the receiving end of this route. There is no Enterprise Auto Transport office in Oak Brook; the same Naples-based team handles your shipment from quote through delivery.

The Oak Brook end
Collecting a vehicle in Oak Brook
Door-to-door means we ask the carrier to load at your address. Whether that happens at the house, at the end of the drive or just outside a gate is decided by the assigned driver, looking at what is actually in front of him against the truck and trailer he is running - not by a policy written in advance.
Three expressways at the edge
The Village's own materials describe Oak Brook as served by the Tri-State, the East-West Tollway and the Eisenhower, and the geography bears it out: I-294 runs along the eastern boundary, I-88 begins its run west from here, and I-290 ties in from the city. A southbound carrier does not need to work back across the metropolitan area to find its route - it drops onto I-294 and is heading for the interstate network within minutes. That is worth real time on a 1,340-mile lane, and it is why Oak Brook addresses are comparatively easy to place with a carrier.
Three layers of roadway, three different jobs
Oak Brook is easier to understand once you see who maintains what. Route 83 and 22nd Street are IDOT state routes and carry the heavy through traffic. 31st Street, Meyers Road, Midwest Road and most of York Road are DuPage County routes - the second tier a driver uses to work in from the tollways. Most residential streets in the non-gated areas are Village streets, and that is where a pickup actually happens. A carrier plans down through those layers: state route, county road, village street, then your entrance.
Long private drives
This is the single most common Oak Brook access question, and the answer is rarely about the size of the property. A drive can be a hundred yards long and still be too narrow, too curved, too steeply pitched at the apron or too closely planted for a loaded trailer - and the decisive issue is usually turning: if there is no room to come back out forwards, a professional driver will not go in, because reversing a loaded transporter blind past mature landscaping is how vehicles and paving get damaged. The car is driven out to the street instead, which takes a minute. Where a drive and forecourt genuinely have the room, drivers use them.
Associations, gates and private entrances
Oak Brook has a significant homeowners-association residential environment - the Village Police Department's liaison programme alone covers 27 separate associations - and some of those settings involve gates or private entrances. None of that is a rule against car carriers, and we do not present it as one. The operational point is narrower: a gate that admits a passenger vehicle may not suit a full-size multi-car transporter, admission is the association's decision, and it is far better settled at booking than at the entrance on pickup morning. See our gated community delivery guide, which covers the identical situation at the Florida end.
Two Oak Brooks, operationally
The commercial and office corridors along 22nd Street, York Road, Jorie Boulevard and Route 83 are a completely different driving environment from the residential village - wide multi-lane pavement, generous radii, commercial frontage built for delivery vehicles. Residential Oak Brook, a few hundred yards away, is curving streets, cul-de-sacs, landscaped entrances and private drives. The same truck finds one trivial and the other a judgement call, which is why the pickup conversation here is about your specific address and not about the village.
Meeting away from the door
If the assigned transporter cannot safely reach the residence, you and the driver coordinate a nearby accessible location before dispatch. One caution we apply everywhere and particularly here: a shopping centre or office campus parking lot is private property, and loading a car carrier there needs the owner's permission. We do not hand customers the name of a private lot and call it a meeting point. The driver settles on suitable, legal pavement with you in advance.
One thing helps more than anything else: tell us at booking what the last hundred feet looks like - a long private drive, a staffed gate, a cul-de-sac, or a straightforward kerb on a village street. It changes which carrier we look for and what equipment suits the job, and it is far easier to settle then than on the morning of pickup. Where a posted local restriction applies to a street, the driver follows it; we do not invent restrictions, HOA rules or obstacles that are not actually there.
Ship the car, fly down
Oak Brook airports and the seasonal pattern
Almost nobody here drives 1,340 miles twice a year. They send the vehicle and fly.
Oak Brook is one of the few parts of the metropolitan area with a genuine choice of commercial airport. By published estimates O'Hare is about 16 miles from central Oak Brook and Midway about 18 - close enough that the airline and the fare decide which you use rather than the drive. Both are reasonable options for shipping the vehicle and flying separately. At the Florida end you are almost always landing at Southwest Florida International (RSW) in Fort Myers, with Punta Gorda (PGD) serving Cape Coral and north Lee County.
The sequence is the same each season: release the vehicle in Oak Brook a few days before you travel, fly with luggage only, and take delivery at or shortly after you land. Enterprise Auto Transport does not provide flights or airport transportation - we schedule the vehicle around your travel, and someone you authorize can release or receive it if the dates do not line up. If you are landing at RSW, our RSW airport auto transport page covers that hand-off.
Southwest Florida
Where Oak Brook vehicles are delivered on the Gulf Coast
Southwest Florida is the Gulf Coast service region covering Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties. The cities below are communities inside that region, not separate service areas.
Naples
Collier County, and the closest thing on this route to Oak Brook's own access pattern - private streets, staffed gates and long drives behind them. Many deliveries are staged at or just outside the gate unless the association clears the truck in advance.
Bonita Springs
South Lee County, between Naples and Estero. Bonita Bay, Pelican Landing and Spanish Wells are gated; the Bonita Beach Road and US-41 frontage gives a driver simple staging when a community will not admit a carrier.
Estero
Directly off I-75 at Corkscrew Road, one of the quickest stops on the route. The Corkscrew commercial frontage works well as a meeting point for gated addresses nearby.
Fort Myers
Lee County's hub and the nearest major delivery point to RSW. Parts of the McGregor Boulevard banyan canopy are genuinely too low for a full-size open carrier, so those deliveries are often staged close by.
Cape Coral
A very large grid of canal-front residential streets. The arterials are easy; many interior streets are narrow with tight cul-de-sacs, which can move a delivery to Del Prado or Pine Island Road.
Marco Island
South of Naples over the Jolley Bridge on SR-951. Condominium towers and tight island streets mean deliveries are frequently staged at a larger agreed lot before the driver heads over.
Sanibel Island
Reached over the Sanibel Causeway from Fort Myers. Island roads, the causeway toll and limited turning room mean a full-size carrier often hands off on the mainland side by prior arrangement.

Both directions
Northbound: Southwest Florida back to Oak Brook
The return leg gets the same attention as the trip south. Each spring we arrange transportation from Naples, Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Marco Island and Sanibel back to Oak Brook, with bookings concentrated from March into early May. On this lane the access conversation is almost symmetrical, which is unusual: a guard gate and a long private drive at the Florida end, and very often a guard gate and a long private drive at the Oak Brook end too. If a community at either end needs to clear the truck, that is the piece to start early.
Northbound timing has one local advantage. A driver arriving from the south comes up I-294 or I-55 to I-294 and reaches Oak Brook from the expressway side, so a spring delivery does not involve working across the metropolitan area first. The one thing to plan around is the tollway interchange reconstruction on the eastern edge, where ramp staging changes season to season - we confirm the current arrangement with the carrier before the delivery run rather than assuming last year's routing still holds.
