Snowbird Car Shipping Pricing Guide

What Minnesota ↔ Southwest Florida transport actually costs, why the same route prices differently in November than in July, and how a broker's number is built.

What these numbers are — and are not

Auto transport pricing changes with carrier availability, season, vehicle size, fuel costs, pickup location and delivery location. The figures below are estimated market ranges for planning purposes, not guaranteed quotes. Enterprise Auto Transport is a licensed broker: we negotiate with motor carriers and present the offers we actually receive, with our fee disclosed up front.

The ranges on this site are estimated market ranges built from distance, vehicle class, transport type and the direction of seasonal demand, cross-checked against publicly observable market conditions on this corridor. They are not another company's shipment statistics, and we do not present them as Enterprise Auto Transport's internal shipment data. Where we quote you a real number, it is the offer we actually have from a carrier, with our fee disclosed.

Minneapolis to Southwest Florida — estimated open transport ranges

Operable sedan on an open carrier, door to door. Add roughly 15% for a crossover or mid-size SUV and roughly 28% for a full-size pickup or large SUV.

The reverse lane prices on its own logic. Spring is the expensive direction, not the fall.

What moves the number

Seven things that change your price

Direction of seasonal demand

The single biggest factor on this corridor. Southbound in November and northbound in April are the two expensive windows.

How flexible your window is

A two-to-three-day pickup window prices normally. A single named date in peak season pays a premium, because the driver has to rearrange a load.

Vehicle size and weight

Carriers are managing an axle limit as much as a deck. A full-size pickup or a three-row SUV occupies space two sedans could have used.

Open versus enclosed

Enclosed typically runs well above open on this lane, and is worth it for high-value, low-clearance and collector vehicles.

Access at both ends

A pickup a driver can complete in twenty minutes is worth more to them than one that involves a gate, a call and a wait.

Operability

A vehicle that does not run needs a winch and a carrier equipped for it, which narrows the pool of trucks that can take the load.

Fuel and live carrier supply

Rates on the load boards move week to week. That is why an honest broker quotes what is available now rather than a table published last spring.

Questions

Snowbird pricing, answered

Can I ship two snowbird vehicles together?
Yes, and it is often the better value. Two vehicles from the same address to the same address on the same truck usually price better per car than two separate shipments, because the driver only makes one stop at each end. Tell us both vehicles when you request the quote rather than adding the second one later.
Should I use open or enclosed transport?
Open transport is the normal choice on this corridor and the better value for everyday vehicles. Enclosed is worth the premium for exotic, classic, collector, low-clearance or high-value cars, and for owners who do not want a vehicle exposed during a Minnesota winter departure. Enclosed also gives you more delivery flexibility, because those trailers are smaller and can reach places a ten-car open carrier cannot.
Why does Minnesota-to-Florida pricing change during snowbird season?
Because carrier capacity is finite and seasonal demand is not. In October and November, far more people want a southbound slot out of Minnesota than there are trucks running the lane, so carriers can be selective and rates rise. In July the same lane, the same truck and the same car cost noticeably less.
Why can Florida-to-Minnesota pricing be different from Minnesota-to-Florida?
Because auto transport is priced by direction, not by distance alone. A carrier heading into a market where loads are plentiful will discount the trip to get there; a carrier heading out of a market everyone is leaving can charge more. That is why the same 1,800 miles can carry a different number in April than it does in November.
Is Enterprise Auto Transport the trucking company?
No. Enterprise Auto Transport is a federally licensed and bonded transportation broker (USDOT #2273104, MC #774106). We evaluate and arrange a qualified motor carrier to move your vehicle. The carrier is the party that physically transports the car, carries the cargo insurance for it, and issues the Bill of Lading. You should always know which carrier has your vehicle.
