Prepare Your Car for Shipment

• Wash the exterior so existing chips, dings and scratches are visible for the condition report.
• Do not count on photos taken now - pictures taken before the truck arrives cannot be proven. The photo set that protects you is shot at pickup, with the truck there.
• Fix or note any fluid leaks - carriers can refuse a leaking vehicle.
• Check tire pressure and battery charge; the car must roll, brake and steer.
• Confirm who will hand over the keys at pickup and who will receive at delivery.

• Removing personal items is recommended. You may leave up to 100 pounds below the window line; filling your car with more than 100 pounds will incur additional charges by the carrier. Carrier cargo insurance does not cover household goods.
• Remove toll transponders (SunPass, E-ZPass) and parking passes. Enterprise Auto Transport is not responsible for tolls charged in transit.
• Take out garage remotes, chargers, loose electronics and paperwork you may need.
• Remove or lower custom antennas, spoilers, bike racks and roof boxes.
• Fold in mirrors and disable alarms, or leave clear instructions for the driver.
• Leave about a quarter tank of fuel - enough to load and unload, not enough to add weight.

• One set of keys for the driver (ignition, trunk, and any wheel-lock key).
• Registration and insurance copy in the glove box.
• Save your carrier's direct phone number given to you by your representative.
• Print two copies of the Bill of Lading in case the driver arrives without one.

The Bill of Lading is your condition report and your contract with the carrier. Do not skip a line.

• Walk the vehicle with the driver before it is loaded and agree on every mark noted.
• Confirm the BOL lists the correct year, make, model, VIN and mileage.
• Photograph the truck, the side of the cab showing the DOT number, the truck's license plate, and the driver's CDL or driver's license - confirm it is the carrier we assigned you.
• Any truck with a paper sign taped to the window, a handwritten magnet, or no DOT lettering on the cab is an immediate red flag. Professional carriers have permanent DOT/MC lettering on the door.
• Photograph your car next to the carrier's truck, the carrier's license plate, and the side of the truck showing the DOT number. Verify the company we hired is the one that arrived. This prevents dispatchers from rebrokering our load to another carrier.
• Photograph your car front, back, both sides, roof and interior at the pickup location - photos taken days earlier are not accepted by insurance companies.
• Take a short video of the car being loaded onto the trailer.
• If the driver rushes you or pushes the clipboard at you to sign, that is a red flag. Slow down and walk around the car.
• If there is damage and the driver tells you to sign and he will take care of it, do not take him at his word - write the damage on the Bill of Lading and photograph it. That is your evidence.
• Getting a copy of the Bill of Lading is YOUR responsibility, at pickup and again at delivery. If the driver says he will email it, check your email and confirm it arrived before he leaves.
• Sign only after the damage notes match what you see. Keep your signed copy - paper or a clear photo of every page.

Everything is settled at delivery. Once you sign clean, a damage claim becomes very difficult.

• Inspect the vehicle in good light before signing anything. Ask the driver to wait.
• Take your time inspecting the car. A red flag is a carrier who says 'sign here' before you have even looked at the vehicle.
• Compare the car against the pickup BOL notes and your pickup photos.
• Photograph and video the vehicle at delivery before it comes off the trailer if possible.
• Write any new damage directly on the Bill of Lading and have the driver sign it too.
• If the car is damaged, do not let the driver convince you not to document it on the Bill of Lading. Undocumented damage will nullify your claim.
• If the driver says he will email you the BOL, check your inbox for it before he leaves. We cannot retrieve it for you later.
• Pay the driver the agreed balance in the method listed on your booking confirmation.
• Keep the signed delivery BOL - it is the document a claim is filed with.
• Keep your own auto insurance active as secondary coverage.

• Document all damage with photos and video before the driver leaves.
• Note it on the Bill of Lading at delivery, before the driver leaves.
• File the claim with the carrier - the carrier holds the cargo insurance, not Enterprise Auto Transport.
• Send the carrier your pickup photos, delivery photos and both signed BOL copies.
• Call us if the carrier stops responding and we will help you reach them. We have 10 days to rate the carrier, so report non-compliance immediately.
• The rating we give affects whether carriers get future loads from other auto transport companies.
